Meatless Baked Ziti

Name: Baked Ziti
Ingredients: 16 oz. lean beef (can also use vegan crumbles for a meatless version); 1 jar marinara or your favorite spaghetti sauce (I use Rao’s); 2 cups ziti or rigatoni noodles (uncooked); 1/4 cup ricotta (or heavy cream); 8 oz. ball of mozzarella (sliced thin 1); tbsp. olive oil; 4-5 garlic cloves (minced); 1/2 sweet onion (chopped); 1.5 tsp dried oregano; 1 tsp garlic; 1 tsp onion powder; 1 tsp Italian seasoning; kosher salt (2 big pinches, season beef and then season sauce); pepper (big pinch); 2-3 bay leaves (dried or fresh); 1 basil leaf stem
